Single-stage reduction axle:There is only 1 set of gears in the axle package called the main reducer, and the reduction speed ratio of the axle is the speed ratio of this set of gear transmissions. A major feature of the single-stage bridge is that the diameter of the large gear of the main reducer is relatively large, so the axle package is larger, which affects the passability of the single-stage reduction axle. At the same time, due to the large diameter of the large gear, it is difficult to withstand excessive input torque from the manufacturing technology.

Wheel-side reduction axle: It is also called a double-stage reduction axle, which has more wheel-side reduction gears than a single-stage axle. Since it achieves the reduction speed ratio through two-stage transmission, the axle package in the middle is much smaller than that of a single-stage axle, so the passability of the wheel reduction axle is much better, and under the same reduction speed ratio can withstand greater input torque. However, due to the additional one-stage transmission, the mechanical efficiency is also reduced, and the energy loss is more than that of the single-stage axle, so the fuel consumption is higher.

To put it simply, a single-stage axle is most suitable for vehicles under good road conditions and not overloaded; a double-stage axle is suitable for vehicles under poor road conditions, frequent climbing, heavy load or even overload. Therefore, single-stage axles and double-stage axle have their own strengths, and you can choose the axle according to the actual situation of your own vehicle.
